WHY ORJI KALU WILL BEAT MAO OHUABUNWA FOR ABIA NORTH SENATE SEAT

Orji Kalu
Barring all odds, the former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu will be the successor of Senator Uche Chukumerije for the Abia North Senatorial seat at the National Assembly. Political pundits say that a lot of things are going well for the former Abia State helmsman since he returned from Abuja to campaign three weeks ago. Those in the know say that former House of Representatives member, Hon. Mao Ohuabunwa, the PDP candidate for the zone, won the ticket at the pleasure of Governor Theodore Orji who had fallen apart with Sen. Uche Chukwumerije and had decided to replace him. Initially Dr. Orji Kalu had intended to run the primaries against Uche Chukwumerije and others under the Peoples Democratic Party, but Governor T.A. Orji and his men had blocked the full return of the Igbere-born billionaire into the PDP. Kalu had then moved back to his former party, the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, which he formed in the wake of the 2007 elections and through which Governor Theodore Orji came to power in his first term. Those who know the politics of the area say that Dr. Kalu had revived his machineries in the Abia North zone and is riding high. Even the Arochukwu homestead of Mao Ohuabunwa is not expected to vote for him completely because the area is currently divided with 50 percent loyal to the PPA governorship candidate, Chief Chikwe Udensi who also hails from the town. Even Senator Uche Chukwumerije’s town, Umunneochi, is expected to vote en masse for Orji Kalu as he has several followers he made from the area when he was Abia State Governor. The main voting strength of Abia North, Ohafia, is also expected to give Orji Kalu more than 60 percent of their votes.

Patience Ozokwor

The police in Enugu are currently trying to settle the brouhaha that ensued amongst Nollywood big boys and babes in the Coal City following the recent visit of Dame Patience Jonathan to the state for campaign. The stories making the rounds now is that the First Lady had thrown a largesse of N5m to some top Nollywood stars who cornered it and covered their heels. It was revealed that Dame Jonathan had expected to meet with star actress Patience Ozokwor at the venue of the rally but did not see her and when she called her as soon as she was about to leave, she told her of the money she had dropped and to whom she had dropped it, Ozokwor was said to have stormed the scene where a big drama ensued. Those whose names allegedly ring in the mess include Steve Eboh Ajebo, Charles Awurum, Benedict Johnson, Emeka Enyiocha and some others who have recently been parading themselves as The Disciples, a campaign group for President Jonathan. The gist says that before the men could disappear from the place with the money, Mama G stormed the scene and acted a full script of preventing them from driving away. She was said to have stood on the way of the car yelling for them to crush her just as she sent for Police help. The Police she had invited then rushed to the scene and took everyone away for investigation.

FORMER ENUGU GOV., CHIMAROKE NNAMANI, IN ‘CASH-STASH’ SCANDAL!

.SHARES CASH WITH 2003 BANK WRAPPERS!

Ex-Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, is not a stranger to controversy, though the current story which is being circulated about the native of Agbani in Nkanu West LGA certainly sounds controversial enough. According to the story, Dr. Nnamani had been doing what he knows best, that is campaigning. He had declared his intention to run for the Enugu East Senate seat under the platform of his party, People for Democratic Change, PDC, and has been criss-crossing the zone on campaign. Around the middle of March, this year, Dr. Nnamani’s campaign train was at Ngwo Park in the Uwani suburb of Enugu City. After the usual speeches, the time for what the common people were really waiting for, that is, sharing the cash! And Dr. Nnamani did not disappoint. Eye-witness accounts recount that the man and his men brought out bundles of cash held together by bank wrappers which they tore and dropped carelessly as the sharing went on. But, lo and behold, some eagle-eyed guys looked closely at the bank wrappers and discovered that the wraps were stamped 2003! This, quite naturally, has led to the firm assertion by those who witnessed the show that the money must have been stashed somewhere since 2003, and only brought out now to dispose of to prospective voters during the campaigns. This went a long way to confirm an old story in Enugu about how a former top aide of Dr. Nnamani had stashed N600 million in an overhead water tank in his country home! Imagine what would have happened if the FG had decided to change the country’s currency!

EMEKA OFFOR IN ANTI-PARTY SCANDAL

EMEKA OFFOR
One of the staunch members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South East, Sir Emeka Offor, is enmeshed in anti-party scandal. Insiders say Sir Emeka Offor is the main man behind the Anambra South senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Sir, Ernest Ndukwe. Ndukwe, former Vice Chairman of the NCC, is contesting against the incumbent Pdp senator and former governor of the state, Dr. Andy Uba. Those accusing Sir Emeka Offor say that he is the chief financier of Ndukwe and had made deals with Governor Willie Obiano and National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh to secure the ticket for Ndukwe which means that the billionaire oil mogul is working against the interest of his party, the PDP.
